Sophie Lyons

Sophie Lyons (she/her/hers) is a Boston based, Queer woman that specializes in offering trauma informed yoga classes. She is passionate about bringing together the LGBTQIA2S+ community through the practice of yoga and creating brave spaces for folks to explore agency in their bodies. Sophie is an 800 hour certified Yoga teacher with over a thousand hours of teaching experience. She is trained as a 200hr Kripalu Vinyasa Teacher, a 300hr Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F), and a 300hr Ignite Yoga & Wellness Institute Instructor. Sophie is also a Level II Reiki Healer, Trauma-Conscious Yoga Guide (TCYM) and an experienced regular yoga teacher (E-RYT) . She graduated from Lesley University with a BA in Holistic Psychology and Wellness, specializing in yoga therapy; trauma, eating disorder recovery, and addiction.

Sophie’s classes hold a combination of mindful breath and movement that aims to be accessible and inclusive to all bodies. She creates a warm and welcoming environment that allows people from all avenues and levels of practice to feel safe, supported and more in tune with their bodies. Sophie teaches people what feels good in her own practice; it can be intuitive and funky and may not always be a conventional “flow”, but is inviting, restorative, and speaks to the body. With a trauma informed approach, she encourages people to step out of their comfort zone and explore movement in their bodies. She invites her students explore the possibility of accepting where they are in the present and perhaps finding movement that feels right to them.
